Miss Fitness Supermodel World 2024 Recap of Vietnam

The Beauty Pageant that was Adult Summer Camp

As a child at heart, I absolutely loved that we were staying in the theme park Ho May Park, between lunch and rehearsal, we could literally go on any rides at given notice. Zip line, swan boat, go kart, water slides, roller coasters, and more! And they had all these animals: swans, sheep, koi fish, baboons, horses, and these funny chickens! There was also an ostrich that bit me 😂

I think being hosted in a children’s theme park, all the contestants were also able to let loose and have fun! This is the second time I’ve competed in a pageant where they had a men’s division. It seems the fitness is focused more on the men, and the supermodel is more focused on the women. They were also great at adding more silliness and fun to the pageant! Every time we received an award or our sash we also got a stuffed animal, it was so cute!

The views were also AMAZING! Vung Tau City reminded me of the Italian islands where there’s mountain and oceans like the movie Luca. I loved seeing the ocean line blend with the sky.

There was a wide age division, as a few girls were 18 and I am 29. I felt like a mom at times and it reminded me I really am 29 and not a 16 year old inside.

If you’re competing in Vietnam in the summer, prepare to SWEAT. I live in Miami, and normally I prefer not having AC in my home. However the humidity here made Florida seem dry. There’s also limited spaces with centralized air conditioning so even indoors you can still sweat.

I was so sweaty I could not put on my cocktail dresses. My sweat, sunscreen, and bug spray combined made my skin so sticky I could not slide clothes up and down unless it was stretchy or loose. It felt like the end of a summer day at Disney World but instead it was only 10:30am.

I’m so glad I bought foundation sunscreen for the pageant. I also always had a hat, sunbrella, and jacket to cover my skin from sunlight. I easily develop moles and want to avoid them from changing shape and being cancerous (on top of the fear people will mistaken me for my mom’s older sister lol). The good thing is since most of the photos are outdoors you don’t look as sweaty as you are with natural light. But you will look forward to your cold shower after a long day and your skin being dry.

With the humidity I also gave up on curling my hair. Everyday I wore a bun, braid, or ponytail. There are great hair and makeup artists though for photoshoots, semifinals, and finals! At least for me given I have East Asian facial features and most of their team is East Asian, whereas often times in the states I struggled with working with makeup artists unfamiliar with Asian eyes.

The stage is also phenomenal, it’s this huge screen, with a Bellagio esque water fountain show. Just be careful as it’s outdoors, there’s a handful of bugs and the concrete floor isn’t even so I don’t want people to break an ankle. Also backstage there is a splash zone from the fountains.

I think one of my favorite events was actually a dance party after dinner with musical chairs. We all got so into it and it was hilarious! There was so many fun moments like the college students cheering us on making us feel like stars, zip lining with my friends, and all the rides we can go on.

It was such a wonderful experience I will treasure forever. I am so grateful for pageantry because without it there was no way I would be in Vietnam, meeting incredible people from around the world, and representing my beautiful country USA. The icing on the cake was being 1st runner up. I felt great about my interview, and strong in swimsuit after making top 3 in the semifinal swimwear contest. I was only uncertain about top 5 as my shoe came out of my foot and was dangling across my ankle as I stepped up to the stage line up, and had to put my shoe back on in the middle of Miss Vietnam’s performance. I loved being part of Miss Philippines crowning moment as 1st runner up.

Thank you Nation of States for the opportunity to represent the USA at Miss Fitness Supermodel World, and Glamour Girl Boutique Johnathan Kayne for my evening gown!
